Initial Comprehensive Dental Exam
A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by Dr. Burns at your initial dental visit. Dr. Burns will take all of the following information she gathers and formulate a treatment plan especially for you. This will include immediate needs, priority treatment, and treatment that can be completed over time to give you the best smile possible. You and Dr. Burns will decide together on treatment to be performed after discussing the treatment plans. She will make sure you understand every part of the plan. Questions are welcomed.

Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions. We use digital radiographs with expose you to much less radiation than standard dental radiography. We will take images of each of your teeth.
- Photography: We take pictures of you and your teeth to better assess your dental needs and let you see any issues as we discuss them. These images are all protected and private to our practice.
- Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
- Orthodontic screening: Check how the patient's teeth line up.
- Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.
